SPI ramps up employee COVID-19 vaccination
Aug 13, 2021
To ensure that employees remain healthy and protected against the dreaded Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), STEAG State Power Inc. administers its first batch of the company-procured AstraZeneca vaccines under its COVID-19 Vaccination Program. The program is intended to inoculate not just SPI’s regular employees but also its sub-contractors, dependents and community stakeholders.
Around 7,000 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines were purchased through Aboitiz Power and Go Negosyo/BDO Foundation, under the private sector-led ‘A Dose of Hope’ program. It is a tripartite initiative among the private sector, the government, and the British drugmaker AstraZeneca in support for the National Immunization Program of the government that seeks to achieve herd immunity by year end.
Initially, around 198 doses are administered to SPI power plant employees and sub-contractors. This was held recently at the Mindanao Power Plant, which has been certified by DOH-X as its vaccination facility for the administration of the vaccines. Added to it, 44 SPI Head Office employees in Makati together with their dependents also completed their first dose of the company- sponsored vaccination.
SPI Power Plant Manager, Dr. Carsten Evers encouraged all its employees to be vaccinated from the dreaded COVID-19 virus. “It is management’s desire that all members of the team get vaccinated so that employees are not only kept healthy and protected, they can also continue to serve and help SPI keep its commitment of providing power to the island of Mindanao especially in this challenging time,” he said. “The benefit of being vaccinated is not just for you, your family, but for the whole community. So, let us help our government achieve herd immunity and look forward to a return to a much better normal for everyone,” Dr. Evers further said.
SPI has partnered with Reliance Care Inc., a subsidiary of Unilab for the end to end COVID-19 Vaccine Administration Program for SPI. This is also in coordination with the Department of Health-X and the Local Government Unit of Villanueva, through its Municipal Health Office.
The succeeding COVID-19 vaccine administration is still to be coordinated in time with the next vaccine delivery.
SPI’s COVID-19 Vaccination Program supports the government’s efforts to vaccinate qualified adults and help reduce the risks of infection amidst this time of pandemic.
