SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY PROGRAMS


Steag State Power Inc. (SPI) goes far beyond providing efficient and reliable electric power to Mindanao. Apart from sustaining responsible business operations and adhering to the ethical standards of safety, environment, and good corporate governance, SPI actively contributes to the achievement of sustainable development goals by undertaking numerous social development programs to help address a wide array of local community concerns.

 

For more than a decade now, SPI shared its time, resources and expertise in helping secure a more prosperous and developed communities. SPI helped foster greater community collaboration by partnering with various development institutions.

 

SPI’s commitment to help bring about the development of its host communities is expressed through its various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs, focusing on the following areas of concerns:

 

  • Improving Education through the Social Empowerment through Education (SEEd) Program
  • Improving Income through the Livelihood and Economic Enterprise Development (LEED) Program
  • Improving Health through the Water, Sanitation and Health (WaSH) Program
  • Improving Governance through the Enhancing Governance in Local Development (EGoLD) Program
  • Improving Access to Electricity through the Fostering Rural Electrification and Energization (FREE) Program
  • Improving Quality of the Environment through the Environmental Conservation (ECo) Program
  • Inspiring people to excel through a continuing Information, Education and Communications (IEC) Program

 

Moreover, SPI sets aside one centavo for every kilowatt-hour (P0.01/kWh) of electricity sales which can be used by host communities and targeted beneficiaries for the electrification of areas or households that have no access to power, development, and livelihood programs, as well as reforestation, watershed management, health, and environmental enhancement initiatives. This complies with the Energy Regulations No. (ER) 1-94 of the Department of Energy and the Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001.
